Myofascial Release Camrose

Slow, sustained pressure into the connective tissue that wraps every muscle in your body.

What Is Myofascial Release and How Does It Work in Camrose?

At Central Physiotherapy & Massage, our Physiotherapist Camrose team believes quality care starts with understanding the person behind the injury or discomfort. We are dedicated to helping individuals and families in Camrose improve mobility, reduce pain, and regain confidence in their everyday lives.

We take a personalized approach to treatment, beginning with a thorough understanding of your concerns, lifestyle, and goals. Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, returning to sport, or working toward better overall movement, we create treatment plans tailored to your unique needs.

Our clinic combines evidence-based physiotherapy, hands-on care, and patient education to support lasting results. We are committed to providing a welcoming environment where every patient feels heard, supported, and empowered throughout their recovery journey.

At Central Physiotherapy & Massage, our goal is simple: to help you move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing the things that matter most.

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and separates every muscle, bone and organ. It is continuous — a single interconnected web rather than discrete sheets — which is why restriction in one area can produce symptoms somewhere that seems unrelated.

Healthy fascia glides. Layers slide over each other as you move. After injury, surgery, prolonged immobility or sustained postural load, that glide is reduced and the tissue becomes denser and less mobile.

Myofascial release works with slow, sustained pressure held for far longer than conventional massage strokes — often 90 seconds to several minutes in one place, waiting for the tissue to change rather than forcing it. That patience is the technique.

When deep tissue was too much

Sustained, moderate pressure is often better tolerated than deep, direct work.

How Myofascial Release Differs From Other Massage Therapy in Camrose

Pace. This is the main difference. Deep tissue moves along a muscle; myofascial release stops and waits. Sessions can feel slow if you are expecting brisk work.

Pressure. Moderate and sustained rather than deep and forceful. It should not be a treatment you brace against.

Where it is applied. Often away from where you feel the pain, because fascial restriction refers.

In practice your therapist will combine it with deep tissue work and trigger point therapy as the tissue requires, rather than treating these as separate appointments.

It should be a tolerable stretch or pressure, not sharp pain. If you are holding your breath, the pressure is too much and should be reduced.
Because fascial tissue responds to sustained load over time rather than to repeated strokes. Moving on too quickly is the most common way this technique fails.
Often looser but occasionally a little disoriented or tired, since sustained work can be quite relaxing. Mild soreness the next day is possible.
Long-standing fascial restriction rarely changes in one visit. A short series usually produces more than a single long appointment.

I have been seeing Hiya for my physio since a fall and a car accident. She is lovely and goes above and beyond for her clients, you can truly see she is passionate about her work. The front desk girls are all wonderful too! Always so nice, and remember you by name, greetings everyone as they come in the door. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience.
